In conjunction with the Sharjah Book Fair, the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth unveiled a brand-new programme called “Create Publishing” to advance the nation’s publishing and local content industries. By 2023, the initiative hopes to publish 100 books in various literary, intellectual, and cultural sectors with United Printing Press.
The plan was introduced on Monday in front of a sizable crowd of authors, publishers, and business leaders by Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth.
The “Create Publishing” programme is a component of a larger plan known as “Ibdaa” or “create,” through which the Ministry seeks to strengthen the UAE’s cultural and creative industries sector and put an emphasis on talented and creative people in various creative fields.
The project promotes writers, artists, and publishing houses in the nation with a focus on 500 writers and 100 publishing businesses.
The project emphasizes encouraging young researchers and writers to keep up their creative output by giving them a supportive environment and helping them create efficient marketing strategies for their works. By planning various activities and events to go along with numerous significant cultural events held locally, regionally, and internationally, the programme will promote the development of books.
The Ministry has created a comprehensive plan to carry out the project. Support will be provided to publishers and authors for the publication and printing of their books. The relevant associations throughout multiple emirates will be given office space.
In addition to promoting writers’ works through the ministry’s communication channels, the ministry will include writers in its programmes and events, local exhibitions, and worldwide participation.
The author will receive 50 copies of each book, and the publishing firm will receive 300 copies for selling through various stores across the nation as support for both parties. The remaining copies of these books will be given to public, private, and academic libraries, and they will also be displayed at regional and international book fairs.
