The annual exhibition of the Leicester Society of Artists (LSA) will open on Friday and continue through December 18 at Newarke Houses in Leicester.
Paintings, photographs, textiles, pottery, and glass created by artists from Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland will be on display. The show’s curator, Lis Naylor, commented, “I’ve seen the staff come in and the caliber is very good.”
Privilege has been held annually since 1881. Three artists who appeared in Portrait Artist of the Year were among the foreign exhibitor artists in the show, according to Mrs. Naylor.
“This exhibition is receiving a ton of enthusiasm,” she remarked, “seeing this art is a true honor.” It was an option for exhibiting artists to present a piece that dealt with refugees.
The winner of the LSA Student Award, Kaye Axon, a fine artist studying at De Montfort University, was one among those who reacted to the theme.
She presented a piece that had both Ugandan and Ukrainian flag colors. She exclaimed, “I am so thrilled to have had this opportunity.
