Dubai is one of those cities with an endless number of things to do. Immerse yourself in the creativity at these art exhibitions in Dubai to add a little culture to your month.
Ayyam Gallery
The Common Pursuit of Happiness, Mouteea Murad’s solo exhibition, features her most recent body of work. This exhibition is divided into two sections, with a participatory installation on one side and an exhibition of finished paintings on the other. In contrast to a typical art display, Mouteea’s concept places the viewer in the spotlight. Each piece of art in the gallery is accompanied by simple but ambiguous directions that let the viewer complete the piece, resulting in an experimental interaction between the artist, the piece, and the audience.
Dubai Design Week 2022
At Dubai Design District, Dubai Design Week is returned for the eighth season. Visitors will be greeted during the six-day festival, which runs from November 8 to November 13, by a variety of installations, exhibitions, and experienced mediums.
Green Art Gallery
The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist is Michael Rakowitz’s debut solo show at the Green Art Gallery. It is a component of his ongoing project on lost, ruined, and threatened cultural heritage. The initiative was conceived following the Iraq War in 2007 when numerous national artifacts were stolen from museums. Rakowitz has recreated the stolen artworks using paper mâché made of Arabic-English newspapers and western Asian food packaging discovered in diaspora stores utilizing photographs and data from databases.
Ishara Art Foundation
Navjot Altaf presents Pattern, her first solo exhibition in the area. This exhibition serves as a point of convergence between art and activism by showcasing the artist’s long-standing devotion to numerous activist causes, including feminism, ecology, and climate change. The artwork in Navjot contrasts historic and contemporary media to show how we portray the environmental catastrophe and, ultimately, how we see the future of the earth and civilization.
Lawrie Shabibi
Dwelling in the Gap by Shaikha Al Mazrou follows closely on the heels of her participation in Frieze Sculpture 2022 in London. Al Mazrou pushes her materials beyond their bounds and inherent limitations. This show focuses on the connection between the creator and the medium, the artwork and the audience—a “gap” that is essential to the creative process. You can look at seven steel sculptures.
Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery
Max Vadukul presents his exhibition “Moody Timeless,” which centers on his model Ludmilla Voronkina, in stark black and white tones. These photos show the model’s many emotions, and Vadukul captures the model’s dual strength and mystique, perfectly fusing art and feelings.
