Jaeger-LeCoultre has expanded its Reverso Tribute Enamel line with two exceptional additions: the “Xu Beihong” editions and the “Horse” limited edition. Each is offered in just ten pieces to mark the forthcoming Year of the Horse. These watches combine the Reverso’s 1931 Art Deco swiveling case with the Manufacture’s in-house Mètiers Rares expertise in enamel, guilloché, and engraving, blending functional elegance with decorative artistry.
Xu Beihong editions
The Reverso Tribute Enamel “Xu Beihong” pays homage to the father of modern Chinese painting through three white-gold models. Each caseback features miniature grand feu enamel reproductions of Xu Beihong’s iconic horse paintings. The artworks depict a lone galloping steed, a pair in motion, or a stately standing horse, with each miniature requiring 80 hours of meticulous enamel work. The dials employ guilloché techniques in shades reflecting traditional Chinese landscapes: Evergreen Pine Green, Distant Mountain Blue, and Crimson Dawn Orange.
Manually wound Calibre 822 powers the series, providing hours, minutes, and a 42-hour power reserve within a slim white-gold case. The reverse dials, adorned with sunray, barley-seed, and herringbone guilloché patterns, complement the miniature masterpieces on the covers.
Horse edition
The Reverso Tribute Enamel “Horse” edition continues the equestrian theme. Its pink-gold caseback displays a hand-engraved, high-relief horse leaping from sand-blasted clouds against black opaque grand feu enamel. Modelled engraving applied directly atop the enamel highlights the horse’s symbolism of power, freedom, and perseverance in Chinese culture. The motif is echoed on a matching black enamel dial with Dauphine hands and Art Deco appliqués, ensuring visual harmony across front and back.
Both editions celebrate Jaeger-LeCoultre’s longstanding dialogue between horological function and artistic craftsmanship, offering collectors an intricate fusion of mechanical precision and decorative mastery.
