Palomo marks its eighteenth collection with “Eighteen,” a return to Spain that signals both a tribute to the label’s roots and a new chapter in Madrid. After presenting in New York, Alejandro Gómez Palomo relocated the workshop from Posadas to the capital, capturing the tension between nostalgia and growth.
Coming-of-age inspiration
The collection draws heavily from adolescence and Sofia Coppola’s coming-of-age films, including Marie Antoinette and The Virgin Suicides. Muted pastels, whimsical embroidery, oversized bows, and first looks in all-white evoke innocence and youth. Yet this nostalgia is punctuated with bold elements—leather jackets, deep browns, olive greens, and sanguine reds—symbolising a desire for independence and grit. Chevron stripes nod to Barbie’s iconic swimsuit, representing girlhood rites of passage.
Structured yet playful
Power suits and tailored pieces appear throughout, such as a black men’s suit with Victorian shoulders and a chevron pussy-bow collar, and a women’s oversized blazer with bare chest and chevron tights. The line balances structure with playful elements, culminating in Swarovski flower embellishments across bandeau tops, shirting, trousers, and the final gown, reaffirming Palomo’s signature theatricality.
A milestone for the label
“Eighteen” reflects the duality of adolescence—innocence intertwined with rebellion—and mirrors the Palomo team’s own transition. The collection establishes the brand’s ongoing evolution, celebrating youthful experimentation while honouring its Spanish heritage.
