Toyota has officially unveiled the Land Cruiser FJ, the most compact member of its legendary off-road family, set for launch in mid-2026. The FJ blends the classic spirit of the Land Cruiser with modern agility and customization options, catering to adventurous drivers.
Rugged Design and Retro Inspiration
Built on a refined version of Toyota’s IMV ladder-frame platform, the FJ offers serious off-road capability, featuring wheel articulation on par with the Land Cruiser 70 Series and a tight 5.5-meter turning radius. Its retro-inspired design features a boxy silhouette, short overhangs, and a choice of round, heritage-style headlights or modern, rectangular units.
Functional and Customizable Features
The FJ emphasizes practicality for off-road enthusiasts. Removable front and rear bumpers allow easy replacement after aggressive trail use, keeping maintenance simple and cost-effective. The interior strikes a balance between utility and convenience, featuring a digital instrument cluster and a wide infotainment display.
Performance
Powering the launch model is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 161 horsepower, paired with a part-time four-wheel-drive system designed for rugged terrain and reliable performance.
Debut and Availability
The Land Cruiser FJ made its debut at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show and will begin a global rollout in mid-2026, offering a smaller, more agile option for fans of Toyota’s iconic off-road lineup.
