In a landmark move, Audi has officially confirmed its entry into Formula 1, unveiling the Audi R26 Concept, a preview of the car that will compete in the 2026 season under the new Team Revolut banner.

The R26 Concept introduces Audi’s new visual and design identity, defined by minimalist surfaces and a striking titanium, carbon black, and “Audi Lava Red” color scheme. A sharp “cut” between the titanium and red tones draws focus toward the rear of the car and its hybrid power unit, aligning with F1’s upcoming regulations that emphasize sustainable fuels and an electric power share of nearly 50%.

According to Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella, the concept represents “a pioneer for the new brand identity – clear, technical, intelligent and emotional.” Audi will also incorporate red rings into its F1 branding, a first for the marque.

The team, led by Mattia Binotto (formerly Ferrari) and Jonathan Wheatley (formerly Red Bull), will field drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Backed by key sponsors including Revolut, adidas, and bp, the team aims to make its debut at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne (March 6–8), following pre-season tests in Barcelona and Bahrain.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner described the F1 project as a “catalyst for change” in the company’s transformation:

“We are not entering Formula 1 just to be there. We want to win.”

The German automaker has been developing its entry strategy for nearly three years, with ambitions to fight for the World Championship title by 2030. CFO Jürgen Rittersberger added that the venture “makes perfect sense for Audi – also economically,” positioning F1 as a platform to engage younger global audiences and reinforce the brand’s innovation-led vision.
