Zenith has introduced the Chronomaster Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition, the fourth creation born from its ongoing collaboration with the legendary Japanese series Lupin The Third. The partnership first began in 2019 and continues to attract both watch collectors and anime enthusiasts.
A Collaboration Rooted in Anime History and Watchmaking Heritage
The connection between Zenith and Lupin The Third dates back to 1969, when the brand launched the original El Primero movement inside the A384. Two years later, the anime debuted, and the character Daisuke Jigen appeared wearing a Zenith watch in separate scenes, once with a black dial and later with a silver one. Although the watch never existed in the real world, Zenith eventually transformed these fictional designs into actual timepieces.
The first edition arrived in 2019 as a 50-piece steel model with a black dial and gilt details alongside a unique piece auctioned by Phillips. A second edition launched in 2020 with a 200-piece steel chronograph featuring a white “panda” dial. The third edition, introduced in 2021, merged both appearances into a single asymmetrical dial that blended black and silver elements. Each release strengthened the collaboration’s storytelling appeal and highlighted Zenith’s ability to merge horology with pop culture.
The New Daisuke Jigen Edition Arrives in Microblasted Titanium
The latest chapter focuses even more closely on the manga portrayal of Jigen’s watch. Housed in a 37mm microblasted titanium case, the Chronomaster Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition features a beige dial contrasted by black chronograph counters and a tachymeter scale. Beige Super-LumiNova accents enhance the warm, vintage inspired aesthetic. Powering the watch is the El Primero 400 calibre, a direct descendant of the original 1969 movement that offers tenth of a second precision and a 50 hour power reserve.
The model is paired with a modern reinterpretation of the titanium ladder bracelet originally designed by Gay Frères in 1969. Production is limited to 200 pieces, and availability begins at Zenith’s Isetan Shinjuku pop up on November 19 followed by a global release on November 26.
