Ulysse Nardin and URWERK two of Switzerland’s most boundary-pushing independent watchmakers have teamed up for the first time to create the UR-FREAK, a striking fusion of Ulysse Nardin’s experimental Freak architecture and URWERK’s signature wandering-hour satellite display.
A Fusion of Two Watchmaking Icons
The UR-FREAK reimagines the classic Freak concept by integrating a three-hour rotating carousel with URWERK’s satellite hour system, forming a fully unified in-house caliber. It’s a mechanical sculpture that blends Ulysse Nardin’s fearless engineering with URWERK’s futuristic time-display philosophy.
Housed in the familiar Ulysse Nardin Freak ONE case, the piece measures 44mm and arrives in URWERK’s hallmark deep anthracite sandblasted titanium. As with any true Freak, there is no crown, time-setting and winding are executed via the bezel and caseback.
Accents in URWERK’s electric yellow (Pantone 395 C) bring sharp contrast to the satellite indicators and minute track, delivering a bold visual signature.
Innovation at the Core
Inside, the UR-FREAK incorporates Ulysse Nardin’s most advanced innovations — from the Grinder® automatic winding system to Diamonsil and silicon components, materials the brand first pioneered for watchmaking back in 2001. Paired with URWERK’s conceptual and architectural approach to time, the watch stands as a tribute to both maisons’ shared mission to redefine what mechanical horology can be.
Exclusivity Meets Experimentation
Strictly limited to 100 pieces, the UR-FREAK is positioned as a rare collector’s object at the intersection of tradition, experimentation, and independent watchmaking culture.
