As the new year begins, BEAMS FUTURE ARCHIVE has partnered with Vanson and tattoo artist Tappei on a tightly limited collaboration. Notably, the project blends heritage leather craftsmanship with subcultural humor and a DIY sensibility. As a result, the release positions itself as both a collector-focused product and a creative statement.
Leather Outerwear Leads the Capsule
At the center of the collection sits Vanson’s iconic Model B jacket. Here, the design integrates Tappei’s angel characters alongside patches referencing archival Vanson tags. Most importantly, the back panel features a surreal graphic of the Vanson logo being absorbed into a UFO cutout. Consequently, this version is limited to just 10 units worldwide, reinforcing its scarcity value.
Beyond the jacket, the capsule expands into knitwear and casual layers. Meanwhile, a thermal long-sleeve T-shirt presents a Tappei-reworked logo, while a crewneck knit reinterprets Vanson’s signature bone motif through a fractured, playful lens. Therefore, the lineup strikes a balance between statement outerwear and more accessible pieces.
Retail Availability and Positioning
While the collaboration draws from multiple creative disciplines, it remains tightly controlled at retail. Currently, the Vanson x Tappei x BEAMS FUTURE ARCHIVE collection is available exclusively at BEAMS HARAJUKU. As a result, the drop underscores the continued importance of location-specific releases in driving demand and cultural relevance.
