Notably, a 1993 Porsche 968 Turbo S has entered the Gooding & Company catalogue for an upcoming sale, carrying a pre-sale estimate of up to $1.2 million. As a result, the ultra-rare model—one of only 14 built—now stands poised to set a new pricing benchmark for front-engined vehicles from Porsche. Previously, collectors largely overlooked the transaxle-era flagship. However, renewed demand for limited-production 1990s performance cars has sharply raised market expectations. Meanwhile, the car will be offered during the March auction programme on Amelia Island.

Provenance and specification

By contrast with standard examples, this car features a Paint-to-Sample Zermatt Silver exterior and a black leather and corduroy interior. Moreover, the ownership history adds further weight to its valuation. The car was originally ordered by Helena Suková, a Grand Slam champion, who retained it in Monaco until 2014. Importantly, records confirm only four owners from the new. In addition, the odometer shows 18,872 miles, a notably low figure for a 31-year-old performance model.

Performance and engineering profile

From a technical standpoint, the Turbo S represents the most developed road version of the 968 platform. Specifically, a 3.0-litre inline-four engine integrates a KKK turbocharger, an air-to-air intercooler, and revised engine management. Consequently, output reaches 305 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, the car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 175 mph. In addition, lightweight components derived from the Club Sport specification reinforce its positioning between road car and track-focused machine.
