Stone Island has introduced its revived “NO SEASONS” capsule during Milan Design Week 2026, positioning material innovation at the centre of contemporary outerwear design. The project revisits a concept originally developed by Massimo Osti, while reinterpreting it through advanced textile research and a seasonless design approach.
Material-led design defines updated outerwear archetype
The NO SEASONS collection zeroes in on a singular jacket design, updated through construction rather than silhouette variation. Features include a three-dimensional hood, an articulated central panel, concealed zipper chest pockets and adjustable snap cuffs. As a result, the garment becomes a framework for experimentation rather than a fixed seasonal product.
Each piece is dyed in the same ‘piombo’ tone, allowing differences in textile composition to generate subtle variations in colour and surface. Consequently, the collection foregrounds fabric behaviour as a primary design driver, reinforcing Stone Island’s long-standing focus on material research.
The six iterations draw on the brand’s technical archive and innovation pipeline. These include Tela Resinata, produced with 50 per cent recycled cotton, as well as Prismatic Nylon-TC, which refracts light across its surface. In addition, Raso Gommato Transparent Cover-TC references military fabrics, while David-TC introduces a garment-dyeing process that alters structure. Crinkle Reps NY and Panno wool-nylon further expand the material spectrum through texture and density.
Installation at Capsule Plaza merges fashion and spatial design
To present the collection, Stone Island collaborated with Milan-based NM3 on a site-specific installation at Capsule Plaza. Located within a disused swimming pool, the environment transforms an industrial void into an immersive exhibition space.

The installation incorporates a dry-assembled metal vitrine system, which frames each garment as an object of study. Meanwhile, a suspended 4×8 metre LED wall displays visuals by 700×100, extending the narrative into moving image. A bespoke horn sound system engineered by Friendly Pressure further shapes the sensory experience.
Therefore, the presentation aligns with broader Milan Design Week trends, where fashion brands increasingly adopt exhibition formats to communicate process and innovation.
Seasonless design reflects evolving fashion systems
By focusing on a single evolving garment, NO SEASONS challenges traditional seasonal cycles and product turnover. Moreover, the emphasis on material longevity and adaptability reflects wider industry shifts toward durability and reduced consumption.
As Milan Design Week continues to blur boundaries between disciplines, Stone Island’s presentation underscores how fashion, product design and spatial installation converge. Ultimately, the project positions textile experimentation as both a technical pursuit and a cultural statement within contemporary design practice.
