LOEWE and the LOEWE Foundation are presenting Bunny, the first solo institutional exhibition in Spain by American photographer Talia Chetrit, now taking place at the Museo Lázaro Galdiano in Madrid.

Chetrit is widely recognized for her provocative and deeply personal approach to photography, often blurring the boundary between staged and spontaneous imagery. Consequently, Bunny brings together portraits, still lifes, and tableaux that examine the relationship between vulnerability and performance.

Shot over nearly three decades, the exhibition reflects on how clothing, bodies, and objects acquire meaning over time and circumstance. Moreover, the presentation draws on the surrealist sensibility that informs PHotoESPAÑA 2026’s wider programming.

Highlighted works include staged family portraits and intimate compositions that challenge established ideas of representation. Meanwhile, Chetrit’s use of theatrical lighting and carefully composed framing emphasizes the changing relationship between the subject and the environment.

Photography, Memory, and Material Culture Shape the Exhibition

Running as part of PHotoESPAÑA 2026, the exhibition explores themes of intimacy, memory, and irregular beauty. As a result, Chetrit’s photographs enter into dialogue with the historic architecture and collections of the Museo Lázaro Galdiano.

Furthermore, the exhibition highlights the artist’s ongoing investigation into image-making and the role of chance within photographic practice. Through portraits and still-life arrangements, she examines how everyday objects and personal histories become embedded with emotional and cultural significance.

Accordingly, Bunny positions Chetrit’s work within contemporary conversations surrounding identity, representation, and visual storytelling. In addition, the exhibition reinforces photography’s role as a medium capable of balancing documentary observation with constructed narratives.

PHotoESPAÑA 2026 Expands Madrid’s Contemporary Photography Landscape

Therefore, Bunny contributes to PHotoESPAÑA 2026’s international profile and adds to Madrid’s growing calendar of contemporary art and photography exhibitions. At the same time, the collaboration between LOEWE, the LOEWE Foundation, and the Museo Lázaro Galdiano underscores the continued intersection of fashion, design, and visual culture.
