Acne Studios is celebrating the first anniversary of its Aoyama flagship in Tokyo with a new collaboration featuring French-Russian artist Apollinaria Broche. The project transforms the entire store through immersive installations, collectible ceramic works, and an exclusive apparel capsule, reinforcing the fashion house’s ongoing dialogue with contemporary art.

Large-Scale Installations Transform the Tokyo Flagship

At the center of the anniversary celebration, Broche has created a rooftop installation featuring nine large-scale sculptural works. Each whimsical figure introduces a distinct character inspired by antique figurines and the artist’s signature dreamlike visual language.

Among the new creations are Suisui, a three-legged horse; Emru, a sleepy white bunny; Daisy cat, “dreaming she is one with the flowers”; and Bimbi, a baby deer standing gracefully on its hind legs.

Meanwhile, smaller ceramic sculptures appear throughout the flagship, creating moments of surprise within the store’s minimalist interior. As a result, the installation softens the architectural space while highlighting Broche’s sculptural practice, which is also recognized for surreal floral forms.

Collaboration Revisits a Longstanding Creative Partnership

The anniversary project continues a creative partnership that began with Acne Studios’ Fall/Winter 2021 collection. That collaboration introduced Broche’s nostalgic ceramic-inspired characters through accessories and sculptural pieces. Later, the artist returned in 2023 for a Lunar New Year collaboration centered on the beloved Bun Bun character.

Consequently, the new installation expands that evolving artistic universe while introducing an entirely new cast of playful figures for the Tokyo flagship.

In addition, Acne Studios has launched a three-piece capsule collection available exclusively at its Aoyama store. The limited-edition release includes fitted short-sleeve T-shirts and a crewneck sweatshirt featuring illustrations of Bimbi, Suisui, and a hedgehog character.

By combining contemporary art, collectible design, and exclusive fashion, the anniversary presentation positions the Aoyama flagship as both a retail destination and a cultural exhibition space. Furthermore, the collaboration highlights the growing role of artist-led installations in shaping immersive luxury retail experiences while strengthening Acne Studios’ presence within Tokyo’s contemporary art and design landscape.
