Abu Dhabi is set to expand its international art-market presence with the launch of Frieze Abu Dhabi from 19th to 22nd November at Manarat Al Saadiyat.
The inaugural fair will bring together 84 galleries representing 63 cities across 36 countries. Moreover, the international participation is expected to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s growing influence as a destination for global art and cultural activity.
The fair has been developed in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). It builds on the 17-year legacy of Abu Dhabi Art, which has connected artists, galleries, collectors and cultural institutions across the region.
Frieze Abu Dhabi 2026 Expands Global Art Presence
Frieze Abu Dhabi will cover a broad historical range, with works dating from antiquity to the 20th century and contemporary practice.
Leading international names such as Gagosian, Pace Gallery, Thaddaeus Ropac and Timothy Taylor will participate. Additionally, galleries from the UAE and wider region will bring a stronger regional dimension to the fair.
The programme will be divided into four sections. Galleries will anchor the fair, while Focus will provide a platform for younger international galleries.
Meanwhile, Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi will examine cultural exchange across the Indian Ocean. Global Futures will present solo exhibitions by artists from different generations and geographic backgrounds.
New Art Programmes Extend Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Reach
In addition to the gallery presentations, the fair will introduce the Frieze Abu Dhabi Artist Award. Furthermore, Frieze Sculpture and In Dialogue will expand the programme through artistic presentations and discussions.
Curated talks will also examine collecting, institutional development and artistic practice. As a result, the event will provide a broader platform for conversations that shape the international art ecosystem.
Frieze Abu Dhabi will also add momentum to Saadiyat Cultural District’s expanding cultural infrastructure. The district already includes Louvre Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum, while Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open in December.
Therefore, the new fair will arrive alongside a growing concentration of major cultural institutions, strengthening Saadiyat’s position within Abu Dhabi’s long-term cultural strategy.
