Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max alongside the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone. The new devices introduce updated finishes, expanded storage options, AI features, camera controls, and a new foldable form factor.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB, with 512GB and 1TB configurations, plus a new 2TB option. The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 for 256GB.
Pre-orders begin Saturday, September 12, with both models officially available Friday, September 18.
The Pro models arrive in four finishes, including what Apple describes as “an incredibly deep black,” as well as refined silver, burgundy, and a new glacier blue. The aluminum and back glass are color-matched for a cohesive appearance.
Apple is also introducing Siri AI with iOS 27. Rolling out in beta, the new Siri is powered by Apple Intelligence and is designed to be more personal, capable, and conversational. It can draw on personal context across messages, photos, emails, and other information to help users find what they need in the moment.
Performance comes from the newly engineered A20 Pro chip, featuring advanced CPU and GPU cores, along with a second Neural Engine. Apple also says the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max deliver their longest battery life yet, with up to 36 hours and 45 hours of video playback, respectively, on eSIM-only models.
The camera system receives a major update through a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. The system is designed to provide greater creative control while improving low-light and Night Mode photography.
New Pro controls in the Camera app give users the ability to manually adjust lens aperture, shutter speed, and white balance, while a histogram provides an additional way to assess exposure. On-device AI models can lock onto subjects and maintain focus as depth changes or subjects move.
For video, Cinematic Mode supports up to 60 fps, along with 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapses and updated audio mix algorithms for voice recording in background noise.
The new models also introduce Apple Reference Image, allowing users to prove the authenticity of photographs taken on iPhone 18 Pro models. Through SynthID and image metadata, users can also identify images that have been edited or generated with AI.
iPhone Duo Introduces Apple’s Foldable Design
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for 256GB and comes with 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options. The foldable smartphone is scheduled for release on Friday, October 23.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is crafted from precision-machined, mirror-polished Grade 5 titanium. It features a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina display and a 5.4-inch outer display.
The center display is supported by custom variable-torque hinges designed to keep the screen flat when open. An integrated magnet array supports smooth opening and secure closure.
The iPhone Duo will be available in Starlight white and Night Sky, a dark blue finish.
New Features for the Foldable iPhone
The iPhone Duo includes a hidden under-display FaceTime camera that remains invisible until activated, while Touch ID is integrated into the side power button.
It is also the first iPhone to support Apple Pencil via USB-C across both the outer and inner displays, enabling note-taking, sketching, and document markup.
Dual top and bottom speakers are designed to provide spatial audio in both portrait and landscape orientations. The interface also introduces a vertically oriented home screen dock and a compact corner status bar.
Apple has built the foldable experience around fluid continuity when opening and closing the device, with dynamic scaling, posture-based reorientation, and split-screen multitasking.
Together, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and iPhone Duo expand Apple’s latest smartphone range across two distinct directions, pairing upgraded cameras, performance, and AI capabilities with a new foldable design.
