Covid-19 continues to alter the UAE entertainment landscape, with the latest addition being the Papillon cabaret show and dining location in Dubai. It’s the idea of seasoned singer, model, and Dubai resident Layla Kardan, and it’s located at The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina.
Each presentation, which runs four evenings a week, consists of a succession of song and dance sequences that embody the genre’s Parisian glamor and skill. A magnificent multi-course buffet of French and Mediterranean cuisine complements the on-stage action.
On the eve of Papillon’s one-month anniversary, Kardan told The National that the favorable response from the crowd demonstrates a fundamental shift in the UAE’s events and entertainment business.
“What the epidemic did was make people think beyond clubs,” she adds, “and that’s true for both customers and organizers.”
“Clubs haven’t really come back since Covid started, and now people are used to going out and sitting down while still wanting to do something fun and educational.”
“This is why, for example, there is an increasing hunger for concepts that combine multiple components such as food, theater, and dance.”
