The dates for Abu Dhabi Art, the emirate’s annual art fair, have been announced for 2022. The 14th edition of the fair will take place in Manarat Al Saadiyat from November 16 to 20, 2022.
The fair, which has a public programme, is an opportunity for local and foreign galleries to sell artworks while also exhibiting exhibitions, artist commissions, and installations at the venue and throughout the emirate.
Although no guest artists or curators have been named for 2022, an emirate-wide programme is envisaged. After moving online during the first year of the pandemic, the fair returned as a completely physical event last year for the first time. It featured 49 galleries, 14 of which were debuting for the first time.
Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, long-time partners, curated the fair’s Beyond: Emerging Artists area, which featured new work by Emirati artists Hashel Al Lamki, Maitha Abdalla, and Christopher Benton from the United States.
Rose Lejeune curated the fair’s Performing Arts Program for the second year in a row in 2021. The British curator enlisted the help of Parisian duo Louise Herve & Clovis Maillet, Palestinian artist Mays Albaik, Iraqi architect and furniture designer Rand Abdul Jabbar, and Russian artist Super Taus for the event, which was held for the first time at both Manarat Al Saadiyat and Umm Al Emarat park.
