Art is without a doubt one of the most pure and finest forms of human delight. The mind is trained through the eye, and the eye is trained through the mind. Art, like the sun, adds color to life, allowing this idea to live on. This weekend in Dubai, a new studio opened that is sure to make waves in the UAE’s art scene — Wabi Sabi is a community arts center that uses its vast art programmes, educational initiatives, and community projects to engage audiences, promote local artists, and assist the development of Dubai’s art scene.

They aim to increase knowledge and appreciation of the arts in the UAE through a variety of public programmes. Their goal is to build a bridge between the arts and education, opening cultural dialogue in a non-judgmental environment, and assisting in the ideation process. They achieve this by hosting seminars, talks, events, and other chances to bring together like-minded people.

Wabi Sabi will be hosted in Al Quoz’s Meraki Art Studio, whose owners, Pooja and Kajol, are a powerhouse of talent and are deeply passionate about the arts, as well as active supporters of Dubai’s art scene. Kajol, a trained interior designer, put her talents to use at the studio, as evidenced by the art space’s exquisite and abstract décor. Their studio is a multi-concept place with classes to help patrons de-stress, a resin furniture building space, and Wabi Sabi – which will be their artists’ area.

People of all ability levels are welcome to visit their studio. Anyone interested in painting, candle-making, soap-making, resin art, woodwork, or other types of art and design can visit the studio, which offers a number of payment and membership options and has already piqued the curiosity of local art lovers.

“Monthly memberships are available for professional artists who require a regular workspace. “Those who want to unwind with a single session of painting after a long day at work can do so for a small fee,” explains Pooja, Meraki Studio’s co-founder.
