The Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi  has become one of the first government agencies in the United Arab Emirates to develop its own non-fungible token commonly known as NFT’s. NFTs were first introduced in 2014, but they have only lately acquired popularity as a way to buy and sell digital art.

Over 220 staff worked together in a series of seminars to develop the unique NFT digital art. “By developing our NFT collage, we have proved that the spirit of innovation is blooming within our organization,” stated Jasim Al Hebsi, Acting Director of the People and Performance Department at DCT Abu Dhabi.

He further states that, “Our mission at DCT Abu Dhabi is to foster knowledge and awareness of our cultural legacy while also encouraging innovation in order to embrace the technological future. This initiative has given us a clear grasp of how art and culture are evolving in the digital age, in addition to promoting our business values and encouraging teamwork.”

Digital assets that represent real-world artifacts, such as artwork, music, video games, or film clips, are known as NFTs. The generated artworks are usually encoded and saved on the same cryptocurrency blockchain platform, and they can only be acquired or sold using cryptocurrencies online.

The two-day workshop consisted of eight sessions during which 20 teams worked on their designs using a photo collection with over 1,000 images. The distinct designs were combined to form a collage, which was then transferred to DCT Abu Dhabi’s special NFT.
