“Twelve artists’ works are featured in “A Movement in Every Direction: Legacies of the Great Migration.” Through paintings, sculpture, film, and music, the exhibit depicts the Great Migration from the South. It pays homage to their ancestors as well as the ancestors of all African Americans. The project’s co-curators, Jessica Bell Brown and Ryan N. Dennis, began working on it in 2020, at the onset of the epidemic.

“It’s quite remarkable.” Brown, associate curator of contemporary art at the Baltimore Museum of Art, described the occasion as “celebratory.” “We owe a debt of appreciation to each other, our institution, our directors, and, most importantly, the 12 artists who have accompanied us on this trip.”

“We often remark that migration is a never-ending process, and this show is no exception. It doesn’t end there “Dennis remarked. The exhibition will open in Mississippi before travelling to the Baltimore Museum of Art and other locations throughout the country. The exhibit, which debuted on Friday, will be on display until Sunday.
