When Art Brussels returns to the Tour & Taxis exhibition center from April 28 to May 1, it will have an official Web3 partner.
Parallel, which was created just a year ago, has been enlisted to support the NFT projects of participating galleries. They will have their own booth during the show, where collectors will be given an introduction to blockchain art techniques as well as further information on how to purchase NFTs.
At least a dozen of the 157 participating galleries have partnered with NFT artists, whose work will be displayed in their booths or in an online exhibition curated by Parallel utilizing JPG, an NFT curatorial procedure. Plus-One Gallery, Office Impart, Galerie Nagel Draxler, Galerie Charlot, Galerie Michael Janssen, The Hole, ADN Galeria, Erika Deák Gallery, DMW Gallery, Sanatorium, Sapar Contemporary, and Super Dakota are among the galleries participating.
For example, Kim Asendorf’s series ‘Sabotage’ (2022), which includes a web tool that allows the collector to edit works in the series, and Jonas Lund’s What You Get Is What You See (2022), an animation that displays the browser size of every visitor to his website, will be on display at Office Impart. In addition, Atoine Schmitt’s generative NFT UkraineWar2022 (2022) will be on display at Galerie Charlot, raising donations for UkraineDAO, a Pussy Riot-backed project that supports humanitarian help in Ukraine.
Art Brussels joins a growing list of fairs that include NFTs in their lineup. Artissima and Art Fair Philippines established NFT sections in 2021, and Ora Ora was the first gallery to present an NFT at an Art Basel fair when they did so in Hong Kong.
This year, Art Dubai added a digital component for galleries that partner with non-profits.
