MINA Brasserie at Four Seasons Hotel in Dubai Financial Centre is a culinary high point for anyone who wants to experience modern European cuisine at its best. Helmed by Michelin star Chef and author Michael Mina, the restaurant is known for its avant-garde cuisine which is a dexterous blend of traditional taste with modern experimentation. Each plate that comes on the table is an object of surprise. But what steals the show here are the cocktails inspired by famous artworks. From their taste to their presentation, they seem to be the result of a lot of hard work and creativity. There are in total 13 cocktails and mocktails that are inspired by some of the most iconic works of art.
The Girl with the pearl earring-Johannes Vermeer
It includes Yelland Yland infused Ketel One, St Germain Aloe Vera, Passion fruit Puree and Elderflower Syrup. The Dutch heritage of the painter is reflected through Ketel One vodka and the glass has been painted to resemble the turban. There’s even an edible sugar pearl that one can spot on top of the ice!
Starry night Vincent Van Gogh
Van Gough had planted candles at the rim of his hat to create the starry effect on the canvas. The mixologists of MINA have tried to replicate the starry impact inside a glass in the form of a drink. This has been done by using Prosecco with Silvermoon tea and lemongrass for a refreshing taste. The violet liqueur adds floral notes and a distinct blue flavour that tries to replicate the night sky effect along with the starry glitter created by edible gold.
Woman with a hat- Henri Matisse
The 1905 painting that represents Henri’s wife Amelie was both admired and criticised for his liberal use of colours. The mixologists at MINA tried to create a similar impact by making a vibrant cocktail with Chambord, Tanqueray Dry, Sauvignon Blanc, Strawberry Kaffir Lime Cordial and Citrus. Placed on a coaster with the representative painting, the drink creates an absolute impact!
