The Al Quoz Creative Zone Development Project’s Higher Committee has outlined its targets for the next phase in order to improve the emirate’s competitiveness and Dubai’s reputation as a top destination for talent from around the world.

In line with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai’s ambition to establish Dubai as the global centre of the creative economy and the world’s best city to live and work in, the Committee has also determined to secure the project’s completion.

The project, which is expected to be finished by 2025, aims to ensure that Dubai’s future economy is based on long-term knowledge and creativity.

The meeting, which was presided over by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Member of the Dubai Council, to review the Project’s progress and achievements in its first year, also announced the expansion of the Higher Committee to include three new members representing Dubai Police, the Digital Dubai Authority, and the Government of Dubai Media Office.

The decision is intended to ensure the participation of a larger number of relevant government organizations that will aid in the Project’s implementation.

“Sheikha Latifa addressed the meeting, saying, “We will continue to reinforce our efforts to boost the emirate’s status as a worldwide creative hub that generates unique and inspirational creative projects.”

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued guidelines exempting renters rebuilding or repairing their buildings to help the creative community in Al Quoz Creative Zone from paying rent for up to two years in order to accomplish the Project’s objectives.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved a long-term cultural visa for artisans, creatives, and manufacturers in Al Quoz, and Dubai Culture has made it possible for them to apply.

Designing the urban space to fulfill the development demands for activities, investment, and individuals, as well as evaluating the financial model for Al Quoz in light of the real estate market and establishing a thorough programme on the uses and floor areas, are all part of the master plan.

Preparing building development standards, a public space development plan, an implementation programme, development priorities, spatial stages, and spatial indicators are all part of the plan. The master plan is projected to sustain Al Quoz Creative Zone by 2026, with 6,800 creatives living in facilities.
