In order to discuss the most recent developments and tools that contribute to the advancement of this industry through technology and innovation, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) organized the Digital Publishing Forum at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library. Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of Dubai Culture’s Arts and Literature Sector, was present at the event. This was consistent with Dubai’s emphasis on the knowledge economy as a means of fostering long-term growth.

In his opening remarks at the forum, Mohammed Al Hebsi, the acting director of Dubai Culture’s literature division, emphasized the significance of the part that digital publishing plays in the literary world. He said: “In light of the rapid technological development seen in our world today, digital publishing has become an essential link in the world of culture and the dissemination of knowledge. It is crucial in making it possible for authors to publish their works and make them widely accessible to the public. Due to the sophisticated tools that make reading more engaging, he also credited digital publication with having a big impact on society’s love of reading and information, particularly among younger generations.

Three discourse sessions were scheduled for the meeting. The first, titled “Digitization in the World of the Future,” was held in English and was moderated by Emirati author Eman Al Yousuf. It covered the topics of “Digital Publishing between the Future, Marketing, and Challenges,” which was covered by publisher Iman Ben Chaibah, and “Piracy and its Impact on Children’s Content,” which was covered by Dr. Nabih Abdul Majeed.

Eisa Al Hammadi spoke about “Electronic Innovations and Their Role in Creating and Consuming Content” in the second session, “Digital Publishing: Impact and Effect,” which was moderated by Emirati author Salma Ehfiti. Yasmine Atieh spoke about “Challenges and Opportunities Facing Digital Publishing.”

The third session, titled “Digital Publishing and Its Multiple Roles,” was moderated by Emirati publisher Jamal Al Shehhi, and featured talks by Shadi Al-Hassan on “Piracy in the Digital World,” Tariq Touma on “Digital Publishing for the Child,” Wael Kiwan on “Digital Publishing in the East,” and Tariq Al-Hassan on “Piracy in the Digital World.”
