Himani Khimji is a UAE-based artist who was born and raised in South India, in Chennai. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication. That gave her a chance to have a large exposure to Visual Arts, Graphics, and other forms of Media like Film and Photography.
Through her education and work, she has had the opportunity to live, study and work in cities like Jaipur, Mumbai, Muscat, London, and Abu Dhabi. Himani then graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London, in Art and Design Education and now she only practices Art. However, she is also an educator in international school settings.
Himani is a visual artist and her preferred medium is watercolors and gouache. Although she uses acrylics, and Inks as well, her work is largely inspired by nature. “I appreciate and believe that everything that we are surrounded by is inspired and comes from nature” says Himani
The artist state that the colors we enjoy, the clean air that we like to breathe, the freshness that plants bring into the house or outdoors, and the joy that flowers bring are all a part of nature and I appreciate nature, and that is reflected in my artworks.
Through years of practice, she has developed her style. “I ensure that there is some element of nature in most of my work and it just comes to me very naturally as it truly does inspire me.” Says Himani. She is a watercolourist, calligraphist, Himani also does murals, portraits, and landscapes with an element of nature that inspires her and communicates it in her own style.
