Osman Yousefzada, a multidisciplinary artist of British Afghani and Pakistani descent, debuted a series of installations in London’s Victoria & Albert Museum under the title “What is Seen and What is Not.”

The artworks, which are on display through September 25, address themes of displacement, transportation, and migration in response to Pakistan’s 75th anniversary of independence.

Yousefzada, a well-known fashion designer, combines textiles, wrapped objects, and a seating installation in her site-specific artworks.

It’s a great honor to be asked to reflect on Pakistan’s 75 years of independence, the artist stated in a statement that was made public. Through the lens of the British diaspora, “What is Seen and What is Not” provides a portrayal of modern-day Pakistan as it struggles to overcome colonial domination.
