The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) recently announced the events of its 2022 Dubai Performing Arts Programme, which will take place in September and October and provide young people with a valuable platform to pursue their interests in music, singing, playwriting, and theatre photography as well as expand their horizons as artists.

The programme will offer a variety of specialized, interactive training workshops held in Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children from 4 September to 1 October under the direction of renowned musicians from the UAE and around the world. Dubai Culture invites the most promising musical talents from Emiratis and residents aged 15 and over to join this programme.

The ‘Strike a Chord’ music workshops, which encompass the violin with Dr. Mohammed Hamami, the oud with artist Haidar Hassan Al Hakim, and the piano with artist Alissa Dvorkina, aim to explore the musical potential of the participants in music playing and singing through rich interactive workshops. Ayham Hamami, a singer, will also conduct workshops with a focus on singing.

Through these workshops, Dubai Culture hopes to revitalize the city’s musical movement and create a venue for the discovery of young people’s talents that will allow them to pursue careers in music, bringing fresh musical talent into the industry and enhancing the emirate’s standing as a major cultural hub, an incubator for creativity, a thriving hub for talent, and the world’s capital of the creative industries.

The programme also includes practical workshops in the same field that will be held at The Cultural & Scientific Association on September 20, 21, and 22. These workshops will be held in conjunction with the Akaas Visual Arts Centre and will be interactive and theoretical theater photography workshops held in Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children on September 11 and 18. In addition, from October 3 to October 13, 2022, Al Twar Public Library will have specialized courses in playwriting directed by renowned Emirati novelist, actress, and director Marei Al Halyan.

It was emphasized by Fatma Al Jallaf, acting director of Dubai Culture’s performing arts division, that these workshops assist, inspire, and motivate budding artists in the emirate by providing cutting-edge platforms for skill development in collaboration with experts from people and institutions. This is done to ensure that these platforms are open to everyone in order to qualify a new generation of creatives in the performing arts and thereby help Dubai Culture realize its vision and the cultural aspirations of the emirate, especially given the significance of such programmes in nurturing and empowering creative talents.

Dubai Culture is dedicated to fostering and protecting the artistic abilities of Emiratis and locals, luring professionals from all over the world to study, reside, and work in Dubai, and providing them with a wealth of opportunities for success and growth in one of the most sought-after and ambitious cities in the world.
