The exhibition opens Friday with the auction to start next month.

Christie’s Dubai brings the Contemporary Middle Easter Art show with a vast variety of pieces representing UAE, GCC and the global stage. The show will be brought to the public at Christie’s in the Dubai International Financial Centre from Friday to Saturday. The auction is to start off on October 12 and will be closed by November 3rd. Moreover, they will have a live auction for Modern Middle Eastern Art on 2nd November in London.

The art pieces displayed mirror the London exhibition but with pieces from artists from the Arab world and Iran. With masterpieces from Monir Farmanfarmaian, Mohammed Melehi, and Etel Adnan, the auction will present stress on contemporary with both emerging and established artists from the region such as Ali Cherri, Dana Awartani, Ahmed Mater, and YZ Kami. Spotlighting the growing interest in African Art in the region, Robert Devereux’s Sina Jina Collection will be displayed.

Collectors will be able to see Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian’s reverse glass mosaic Mirror Ball (the 1970s), a lightbox by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ahmed Mater entitled Evolution of Man (2010), Iraqi contemporary artist Hayv Kahraman’s The Interpreter (2016), and The late Palestinian painter and art historian Kamal Boullata’s painting Angelus II1 (2017).

The event will also unveil English artist L S Lowry’s renowned painting, Going to the Match (1953), alongside highlights from the event from the 16th to the 24th of September before its auction in London. A significant moment for UAE and the GCC region as it is a sign of the region’s growing international art market, and for the regional artists.

The show brings pieces that pertain to the interests of art lovers who are keen on mixed media work, and photography.
