After the summer vacation, Sotheby’s Dubai will reopen with an exhibition showcasing the range of Sotheby’s international products. Under one roof, the DIFC will house works of contemporary art, glistening jewellery, and highly sought-after cutting-edge watches. After that, the items will be transported to New York and Geneva for the auctions.

The exhibition is on display at Level B2, Gate Village Building 3, Dubai International Financial District, from September 26 through September 29. A second exhibition will be held in October and will debut on October 3. It will feature modern and contemporary paintings and sculptures by Middle Eastern artists alongside rare historical artefacts from the Islamic world.

The major Contemporary Art auctions in New York, which are held twice a year in May and November and serve as the standard-bearer for the international art market, will be featured for the first time at Sotheby’s Dubai.

One of the most significant Italian artists of the 20th century, Alighiero Boetti, is known for his compelling series of maps, known as “Mappa,” which has won praise from critics throughout the world. The most significant piece in a series that spans two decades, this enormous piece was originally seen in the significant retrospective exhibition of 2011, which travelled from the Museum of Modern Art in New York to the Reina Sofia in Madrid and then the Tate Modern in London.

Sotheby’s will hold a single-owner auction of significant and complete specimens of Andy Warhol’s works, including 28 complete sets, in New York this October.

Furthermore Complete set of four screen prints of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom from Reigning Queens, 1985. This collection of Andy Warhol’s vibrant pictures of Queen Elizabeth II is both glitzy and dominating, perfectly capturing the era of globalisation and “celebrity” in which she ruled. The official picture portrait shot during The Queen’s Silver Jubilee year a decade earlier served as the inspiration for the piece and was reworked in an extraordinarily vivid palette. These prints are a part of the “Reigning Queens” series, which combines several of Warhol’s key ideas, including stardom, portraiture, consumerism, and adornment.

Along with these highlights from New York, which will be auctioned on December 9, there will also be a number of watches coming from Geneva, including a Rolex Daytona “Soto” Mark II, steel, manual wind, ca 1970 (est. $300,000-600,000), an F.P. Journe, Pre-production Resonance (est. $500,000-1,000,000), and a Lange & Sohne Datograph, A Rare and Early Platinum Fly-Back Chronograph

An important Colombian emerald and diamond necklace (approx. $900,000-1,400,000) will be the star of a collection of jewels from Sotheby’s Geneva auctions that will make their premiere in Dubai in November. The emeralds are of extraordinary quality and colour, making this item truly unique.

To commemorate 100 years after the discovery of King Tutankhamen’s tomb, one of the most thrilling archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, December will feature a variety of Egyptian-themed jewellery.

In an investigation of the enduring fascination with ancient Egyptian culture, rare jewels by the illustrious Italian jewellery business Castellani and the renowned creations of Louis Comfort Tiffany for Tiffany & Co. will be displayed in Dubai for the first time prior to the sale.
