Faysal Tabbarah has been named as the new curator of the International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2023 by the National Pavilion UAE.

The Laboratory of the Future was the theme of the biennale, and a variety of designers, architects, and thinkers made concepts in response to it.

The curators of the Kuwait Pavilion worked with Tabbarah, associate dean and associate professor of architecture at the American University of Sharjah, last year.

He reimagines these dry areas as places of wealth and productivity in his study proposal for Venice’s 18th International Architecture Exhibition, which examines the relationship between architecture and arid landscapes in the United Arab Emirates.

The UAE National Pavilion at Venice, according to Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, will continue to receive support from the government. She asserts: “Tabbarah’s proposal will unquestionably help the UAE’s burgeoning architecture sector. We at the ministry believe in giving our creatives the tools they need to contribute to the holistic and sustainable development of the nation.”

The Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation’s executive director, Angela Migally, says the following: “As part of its mission to share curated stories at one of the most significant international stages in the world, La Biennale di Venezia, the National Pavilion UAE has consistently produced significant work over the years.

Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim: Between Sunrise and Sunset is the nation’s current exhibit at the Biennale Arte 2022 in Venice, which was organised by Maya Allison. It includes a sculpture by Emirati artist Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim made of 128 abstract and organic components. The exhibit will be up until November 27.

From May 20 to November 26 of next year, the National Pavilion UAE will host the 18th International Architecture Exhibition.
