The Dubai Festival for Youth Music 2022 will begin on November 24, 2022, as announced by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture). The event will showcase the musical compositions and ideas of the younger generation. It will be opened with a special musical event with performances by UAE residents and young citizens.

The festival’s planning, which will take place each year in November, is in line with Dubai Culture’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment for the cultural and creative industries, enabling a thriving ecosystem that supports Dubai’s economic development and solidifies its position as a significant center for arts and culture.

Young, gifted artists between the ages of 15 and 35 are invited by Dubai Culture to participate in the festival with their musical work. Applicants must submit their applications online through Dubai Culture between November 7 and November 19, provided that UAE-licensed bands or collectives created the works in question.

The festival aims to highlight the originality of UAE-based public and private musical arts organizations and corporations, as well as to honor individual involvement from both public and private school pupils. Additionally, it will offer a helpful platform for showcasing young talent and their musical potential in areas like performance, composition, instrumentalism and singing, among others.

“The Dubai Festival for Youth Music is regarded as a compliment to the artistic and musical sectors in Dubai,” stated Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture. “The festival is in its inaugural year. We’ll do our best to keep it going while achieving the authority’s strategic goals of identifying emerging talent in these many musical genres.”

Regarding the festival’s specifics, Fatma Al Jallaf, Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, stated: “Before the festival’s closing ceremony, which will take place on November 24, the participants will undergo an evaluation and selection period for less than 1 week, and the winners will be announced and awarded at the ceremony in accordance with the specific categories, which include: Best Singing Award, Best Arabic Playing Award (Oud), Best Classical Playing’ We will also be recognizing deserving individuals in each of the musical categories as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to remedy underrepresentation.”
