UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival will “push boundaries” with its theme of nature

Ras Al Khaimah: On February 3, the public is invited to the opening of the 11th Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival (RAKFAF), which takes place in the 17th-century pearling hamlet and former home of the Al Za’ab clan. This year’s festival, which was established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, will feature the work of more than 120 local and foreign artists from more than 35 nations on the subject of “Nature.”

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism and Development Authority is in charge of presenting the most recent RAKFAF (RAKTDA). The topic for 2023 “pushes boundaries” to show how artists have interpreted nature via the senses, emphasizing the inventiveness of painters, sculptors, designers, filmmakers, and photographers to provide spectators “an immersive experience,” according to Gulf News. RAKFAF will engage the community through a variety of cultural and creative experiences, including art, heritage discussions, pet-focused events, thematic weekend programming, art workshops, musical performances, film screenings, and much more.

Alfio Tommasini, Festival Curator and Art Director for RAKFAF, said: “The perception of nature around us always starts from a journey that begins inside of ourselves. In the case of those who transform it into artistic forms, a personal sensibility is shared with us to stimulate our curiosity and show us the many possibilities of representing it.”

Ras Al Khaimah is a charming desert environment, he said, with the rich heritage of the Al Hamra Heritage town, a structure made of coral, sand, and clay. RAKFAF serves as an important hub for international artists to network, interact, and exhibit their distinctive works of art that represent nature in a variety of ways.

The award-winning Australian restaurant Antica Australis’ Chef Paolo and Kelly Picarazzi will also provide the first-ever Middle Eastern culinary experience at RAKFAF. The team will create a special four-course Italian-Emirati fusion meal that draws inspiration from Ras Al Khaimah’s organic farms and foraged natural flora.
