The black carpet shimmered with glamour as celebrities and public figures came together to celebrate the accomplishments of Arab women at the Women of Worth Gala and Award launch in Riyadh. L’Oréal Paris’s Middle East General Manager of Consumer Products, Ahmed Wagih, emphasized the significance of women in society and introduced the Women of Worth program, aimed at recognizing and honouring mothers, daughters, and changemakers who have made a notable impact in their communities.
During the event, a panel of judges, including L’Oréal Paris’s Middle East spokesperson Aseel Omran and Adwa Al-Dakheel, among others, will select four women nominated by the public. These deserving women will each receive a $10,000 award to support their initiatives, with the aim of empowering and supporting women in all fields. The Women of Worth program seeks to shed light on creators who are achieving remarkable feats behind the scenes, even if they may not have a large social media presence or public spotlight.
Aseel Omran, a singer, actress, and UNHCR ambassador emphasized the importance of initiatives like Women of Worth, particularly in highlighting the achievements and contributions of women who may not always be in the limelight. She highlighted the global attention on Arab women and the significant changes taking place in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the need for continued support.
The panel discussion featured Aseel Omran, Dr. Samira Elghamdi (Founding Member of the Family Protection Association), Adwa Al-Dakheel (entrepreneur and author), Budreya Faisal (sports marketeer), and Ahmed Wagih. They explored topics such as breaking barriers of fear, generational empowerment, and community building. Adwa Al-Dakheel emphasized that in today’s era of opportunities and societal acceptance, women are proving their capabilities irrespective of gender, and their achievements are being recognized.
The Women of Worth Gala also made its mark at the Cannes Film Festival last month, where notable women changemakers such as Eva Longoria, Heidi Klum, and Alessandra d’Ambrosio were in attendance.
The Middle East edition of the gala took place at Riyadh Boulevard’s Music Mansion, attracting public personalities such as Emirati actress Mahira Abdelaziz, fitness trainer Zenah Kazim, Saudi actress Helda Yassin, influencer Karina Komil, and travel power couple Pasu and Poo. The event showcased the pride and support for women worldwide, with influencer and luxury traveller Dr Hasan Ghoneim expressing his admiration for the achievements of women and their ability to accomplish the impossible.
