In an endeavor to honor the late father of the Nation Sheikh Zayed, artist Latifa Mohamed Al-Nuaimi embarked on a creative journey to portray his poetry through mixed media artwork. The process involved several distinct steps.
Firstly, the artist carefully selected plywood as the base material and skillfully cut it into layers, giving the artwork a captivating 3D effect. To create a meaningful background, old Etisalat cards were incorporated. These cards, collected by the artist over 17 years ago, featured imagery that depicted the UAE’s rich heritage and cultural landmarks. This addition not only added a historical element but also symbolized the country’s development, creating a profound connection to the poetry itself. The poetry was elegantly presented using laser-cut acrylics, adding a touch of intricacy to the artwork. Finally, at the heart of the composition, a painting of the late Sheikh Zayed was placed, depicting him holding a book. To enhance the significance of the book, a LED light cable was installed behind it, creating the illusion of the book illuminating and the poetry flowing from its pages. Through this mixed media masterpiece, the artist beautifully encapsulated the essence of Sheikh Zayed’s poetry and its profound connection to the UAE’s history and development.
