Nancy Wood, a London-born artist, initially pursued a successful career in industry but always dedicated her spare time to producing large floral watercolors. In 1996, she made the leap to become a full-time artist, coinciding with a shift toward abstract themes in her work. During this time, Nancy signed an exclusive contract with Demontfort Fine Art, one of the UK’s major art publishers. Her original artworks and limited edition prints were showcased in galleries throughout the country. Her works have gained recognition and have been featured in prominent platforms such as the Grand Designs television series and Elle Decoration magazine. Notably, five of Nancy’s paintings can be found aboard Cunard’s Queen Victoria.
In addition to her artwork, Nancy has also ventured into designing bespoke tables and other furniture. Her designs incorporate hand-polished stainless steel, thick glass, and solid hardwoods, showcasing her versatility and creativity beyond the realm of traditional artwork.
More recently, Nancy Wood has embarked on a bold new artistic direction, moving away from her earlier commercially driven work. She now focuses on a fresh new style that involves manipulating poured paint and ink. These works are available as a very limited series of original artworks, as well as hand-finished or short-run limited edition prints. This shift in approach demonstrates Nancy’s artistic growth and her dedication to exploring new techniques and artistic expressions.
Nancy divides her time between Southampton, UK, the south of France, and St. Lucia in the Caribbean. The varied environments and influences from these different locations likely contribute to the diversity and vibrancy found in her artwork. Nancy’s ability to immerse herself in different cultural settings enriches her artistic perspective and allows her to create captivating and unique pieces that resonate with viewers around the world.
