EARTHDAY.ORG, the globally renowned organization leading the charge for Earth Day, is thrilled to introduce the “Your Art, Our Earth Poster Competition” in anticipation of Earth Day 2024. With just six months remaining until Earth Day 2024, EARTHDAY.ORG invites individuals worldwide to participate in an initiative focused on addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time: plastics.

In 1970, a staggering 20 million people united across the United States, demanding change, and thus, Earth Day was born. The inaugural Earth Day poster for this historic event was created by the esteemed artist Robert Rauschenberg. Since then, EARTHDAY.ORG has annually unveiled an official Earth Day poster, captivating millions through social media, the internet, and shared by people across the globe. In 2024, they are extending an invitation to the global community to contribute to a curated gallery of posters encapsulating this year’s theme – “Planet vs. Plastics.”

The theme of “Planet vs. Plastics” unites people of all ages, from students aged 5 to 17 and those 18 and older, regardless of their backgrounds, in the quest for a plastic-free future. It champions a 60% reduction in plastic production by 2040. The competition includes three distinct categories: “Human Health and Plastics,” “Oceans and Plastics,” and “Fast Fashion and Plastics.”

Kathleen Rogers, President of EARTHDAY.ORG, underlined the power of visual imagery in conveying a message and emphasized the urgent need to address the environmental and health risks associated with plastics. She urged artists to “help us with your incredible designs in fighting back through art!”

EARTHDAY.ORG’s focus with “Planet vs. Plastics” is to mobilize communities, promote climate education, and advocate for sustainable practices, all centered around the vital theme of freeing humanity and our planet from the devastating impacts of plastics.

A panel of judges, including esteemed Earth Day Board members, will select two outstanding artworks to champion the cause of “Planet vs. Plastics.”

The “Your Art, Our Earth Poster Competition for Earth Day 2024” is open to legal residents of the United States. Participants can enter the College Division (must be 18+ or of the age of majority and enrolled in an institute of higher education) or the Children’s Division (legal guardians must enter on behalf of minors aged 5-17). Entries can be submitted from October 24, 2024, through January 22, 2024, on the competition’s official website.

Six finalists have the opportunity to showcase their artwork on the Sponsor’s website and social media accounts. The Official Rules for the competition can be found on the website.
