Illustration is a form of art particularly used in published media such as magazines, social media platforms, books and several others. It is basically an interpretation or a visual representation of written text or a concept frequently used for purposes of integration. In addition to this, stippling and pointillism are few of the current trends that Jenny Nguyen, a self-taught artist, follows. Stippling refers to the form of art in which several dots or small circles (usually of the same color) are used to create a composition. These dots are joined together to create a bigger and whole image. Pointillism is another technique mostly used in paintings in which small dots of color are used in a particular pattern to form an image.
Art is a medium that expresses the creator’s imagination, thoughts, ideas or inspiration. For some, art is a form of communication while for others art doesn’t need to communicate anything at all. It can just be the medium of beauty for aesthetic purposes. Jenny Nguyen is one artist who believes in this saying. A well-known Vietnamese artist based in the United States of America (USA), she specializes in illustrations.
She challenges herself in order to seek and learn difficult as well as tedious techniques to gain mastery in that field. She decided to document the entire process of creating a piece of art one day on her TikTok account @ Jjennynguyenn and since then there is no turning back. Through TikTok, the number of viewers and followers elevated over-night. She is proud to inspire all the young and budding artists, particularly those from the Vietnamese community. With constant effort and dedication, she makes her community proud and helps to inspire and empower the young and amateur artists.
When asked about the source of her inspiration, she said Michelangelo, an Italian sculptor, painter, poet as well as an architect during the Renaissance period is her greatest inspiration.
During the quarantine period, Ms Nguyen decided to utilize the free time and became more serious in order to develop and work more on her art business. She also started to create increasing number of art videos on TikTok and Youtube; as a result, there was an exponential hike in the number of viewers as well as the followers on these platforms. According to her, the importance of art includes anything that sparks joy in them. She wants to convey to all the artists and creators around the world that even though artists may not be given the same respect during present times like they were back during the days of Picasso, Frida or Michelangelo, that day will arrive soon.
