Florence Giroux Gravel emerges as a dynamic force in the realm of contemporary art, wielding her multidisciplinary approach to explore the intricate interplay between perception, movement, and space. Armed with an MFA from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and enriched by her studies in Studio Art at New York University (NYU Steinhardt), Gravel’s artistic journey has taken her across borders, exhibiting her works in Canada, the United States, Iceland, and France.

Gravel’s artistry has left an indelible mark on numerous prestigious platforms, including exhibitions at Carvalho Park, Foire Plural, Foire Papier, Marius-Barbeau Museum, AMF Gallery, and Bernard Gallery. Her works, resonating with a captivating blend of visual allure and conceptual depth, have found their way into esteemed corporate and private collections, including Claridge Inc. and Ubisoft.

Recipient of multiple grants, including three Première Ovation grants from CALQ, Manif d’art, and the Ville de Québec, Gravel’s dedication to her craft has been recognized and supported by the artistic community. She is also a member of the Artists File of Art and Architecture Integration Policy of Quebec (1%), further solidifying her impact on the cultural landscape.

Gravel’s artistic statement reflects a profound engagement with the nuances of perception and the transformative potential of space. Through her works, she invites viewers on a journey of discovery, where the interplay of light, distance, and materiality gives rise to a dynamic array of illusions and unexpected vistas. By incorporating threads, glass, and fabric into her creations, Gravel expands the boundaries of her artistic expression, weaving new trajectories and visual languages that captivate and challenge the senses.

At the core of Gravel’s artistic inquiry lies a fascination with visual immersion and the convergence of art, architecture, and the psyche. Her works serve as portals to realms where the visible and the invisible coalesce, where rhythm, resonance, and vibration intertwine to reveal the subtle dance of existence.

As she prepares for her solo exhibition at the Sorbonne Art Gallery in 2024, Florence Giroux Gravel continues to push the boundaries of artistic exploration, offering viewers glimpses into the transcendent beauty and complexity of the human experience. Based in Quebec City, Canada, Gravel’s artistic legacy is one of innovation, introspection, and boundless creativity.
