The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its first anniversary on March 31, 2024. Over the past year, the cultural hub has emerged as a beacon of artistic brilliance, welcoming over one million visitors and hosting an impressive array of shows and exhibitions.
Since its inauguration in 2023, NMACC has become synonymous with excellence in the arts, showcasing both Indian heritage and global talent. The Centre has been at the forefront of bringing iconic international acts to Indian audiences, including the debut of Broadway and West End performances in the country.
One of NMACC’s key initiatives has been its dedication to preserving India’s rich cultural heritage. Through programs like ‘SWADESH by Reliance Foundation’, the Centre has provided a platform for diverse art forms from across the country to shine on a global stage.
The first anniversary celebrations at NMACC were nothing short of spectacular, with exclusive programming at the Grand Theatre. Audiences were treated to captivating performances by renowned artists such as Amit Trivedi, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Ajay-Atul, and Aditya Gadhvi, making it a night to remember.
Simultaneously, The Art House unveiled ‘Liminal Gaps’, an exhibition that showcased immersive installations by contemporary Indian artists. Curated by Mafalda Millies Kahane and Roya Sachs, with executive production by Elizabeth Edelman Sachs of TRIADIC, the exhibition marked a significant milestone for NMACC as it focused solely on the works of Indian artists, highlighting their talent and creativity on an international platform.
Reflecting on the Centre’s journey, Founder & Chairperson Nita Ambani expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received over the past year. In her address, she remarked, “It is with a deep sense of pride, joy, and gratitude that we celebrate the first anniversary of our Cultural Centre. In the past year at NMACC, over a million audiences have witnessed blockbuster Indian theatricals, breathtaking global performances, stunning artworks, and traditional handicrafts from all over India. We are grateful for the love and support of our audience, and the trust and enthusiasm of our artists. It’s been an extraordinary year of firsts, showcasing the best of India and the world. And our journey has only just begun!”
Looking ahead, NMACC continues to raise the bar with upcoming events that promise to enthral audiences. The Centre is set to host ‘Matilda the Musical’ by The Royal Shakespeare Company, offering Indian audiences the chance to experience world-class theatre. Additionally, a performance by Bharatanatyam exponent Padma Shri Shobana and her troupe is sure to captivate audiences with their mesmerizing dance performances.
