The UAE celebrates its 53rd Eid Al Etihad with a variety of exhibitions highlighting the nation’s rich history, culture, and emerging talents. Here’s what to explore during the National Day weekend:

1. Imprinted Narratives: Stories of a Nation Through Postal Stamps
Hosted at the Etihad Museum, this exhibition, curated by Rashed Al Mulla, delves into the UAE’s evolution using postal stamps that commemorate significant milestones in education, science, and diplomacy. Visitors can take home select stamps to begin their own collections.

Exhibition Dates: Monday to Sunday, 10am-8pm; until February 28; Etihad Museum, Dubai.

2. Alyazia Al Nahyan: In the Breath of Decay
Iris Projects in MiZa, Abu Dhabi, introduces Alyazia Al Nahyan’s first solo exhibition, In the Breath of Decay. The show features abstract works made from natural elements like fallen leaves and dyes, reflecting on how landscapes preserve memories.

“Alyazia is an artist who lets the natural world take the lead in her process of mark-making,” said Nadine Khalil, curator of the exhibition.

Exhibition Dates: Monday to Friday, 10am-6pm (by appointment only); until January 20; Iris Projects, MiZa, Abu Dhabi.

3. Al Manama Installation
At Dubai Design District, the manama, an integral yet overlooked architectural feature of the region, is celebrated. Designed for natural cooling, these pavilions are constructed sustainably with wetted cotton walls to create a refreshing breeze.

“The manama is an early example of air conditioning, a passive cooling system,” explained Rashid bin Shabib, who collaborated with Ahmed bin Shabib and Cartier on the project.

Exhibition Dates: Until December 3; d3, Dubai.

4. UAE Reimagined: Digital Perspectives on Heritage
Hosted at Ibn Battuta Mall, UAE Reimagined by Future Bedouin showcases digital art reflecting the UAE’s past and future. This family-friendly event also offers henna art and craft workshops.

Event Dates: Throughout the weekend; Ibn Battuta Mall, Dubai.

Celebrate National Day with these exhibitions that honour the UAE’s history, innovation, and creativity.
