As 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the Series 7 chair, originally designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955, Fritz Hansen is launching a year-long celebration. The Danish furniture maker is planning a series of collaborations, special-edition releases, and curated events to honor this iconic piece.

To start the festivities, Fritz Hansen has introduced the “7:14 AM” collection, featuring a new color palette inspired by the soft hues of Danish morning light.
A Palette Inspired by Danish Sunrises
The collection includes gentle shades of blue, violet, pink, beige, and green, reflecting the elongated sunrise of Denmark’s autumn season. To enhance the ethereal effect, the chair’s traditional chrome legs now feature an iridescent finish, shifting in appearance depending on lighting and angle.
According to Fritz Hansen’s creative director, Els Van Hoorebeeck, the collection draws inspiration from the unique quality of Danish light. “This chair is such an icon, and the Danish light is like nowhere else. When you stack the chairs, you get a feel for this fluent sunrise factor, like refracted light.”
Honoring a Design Classic
While the Series 7 chair now features a refreshed color palette, its original curved plywood seat and minimalist design remain unchanged. Its timeless aesthetic has made it a staple in homes, offices, and public spaces worldwide. Over the decades, the chair has also influenced many modernist and mass-produced designs.
Limited-Time Availability
The “7:14 AM” Series 7 collection will be available for a limited time through Fritz Hansen’s website throughout 2025.
