Sharjah will host the 26th edition of the Islamic Arts Festival this November. The event takes place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This year’s theme, “Siraj” (lamp), represents light and its artistic symbolism. The festival will showcase how Islamic art serves as a cultural bridge while preserving its rich history.

Islamic Arts: A Global Platform for Artistic Expression

The Supreme Committee of the Islamic Arts Festival, led by Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Qasir, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture (SDC), emphasized the festival’s growing global influence. Since its launch in 1998, the event has evolved into an international platform that celebrates Islamic artistic heritage.

Sharjah’s strong commitment to the arts has contributed to the festival’s success. Over the years, it has attracted artists worldwide, fostering cultural exchange and creative expression. The festival highlights Islamic traditions while encouraging modern interpretations.

Call for Artists and Interpretations of “Siraj”

The theme “Siraj” goes beyond physical light. It symbolizes intellectual enlightenment, creativity, and spiritual depth. The committee will soon invite artists globally to submit works that align with this concept. Each submission will be evaluated based on its artistic representation of light, both as a tangible and symbolic element.

By preserving Islamic artistic heritage while embracing innovation, the festival continues to inspire new generations. It ensures that Islamic art remains a vibrant and evolving form of cultural expression.
