Japanese lifestyle store Cul de Sac is marking its 10th anniversary with an extraordinary collaboration alongside Medicom Toy and Karimoku Furniture, resulting in a minimalist BE@RBRICK made from solid Japanese Hiba wood. This unique piece merges collectible art with sensory appeal, designed for both toy enthusiasts and interior design lovers.

Three Years in the Making With Natural Elegance

Crafted with precision by artisans at Karimoku Furniture, each BE@RBRICK is carved from whole Hiba Cypress logs native to Aomori Prefecture. This choice of material enhances the toy’s natural aromatic qualities, offering a subtle fragrance distinctive to the region. Due to the complexities of working with solid logs, the development of this figure spanned nearly three years.

Each bear showcases clean, unadorned surfaces with visible woodgrain that reflects the northern climate’s influence. Finished with fragrant Hiba oil, the piece also comes with an extra vial of the oil, allowing owners to refresh the scent over time.

A Collectible That Blurs Design and Function

Unlike traditional BE@RBRICKs, this version focuses on sensory appreciation and design purity. With no visible logos or flashy colours, the result is a meditative, minimalist object that borders on home décor rather than a toy. The collaboration exemplifies how Japanese craftsmanship can turn a playful figure into a work of tactile and olfactory art.

The Cul de Sac Japon x Karimoku Furniture BE@RBRICK will officially launch on May 1, 2025, available at Medicom Toy stores, their online platforms, and Cul de Sac-JAPON’s official stores.
