Meta Platforms, Inc., in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, has officially launched the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in the United Arab Emirates, offering a seamless fusion of cutting-edge AI, wearable audio, and camera functionality. The collection was introduced during an exclusive event on May 7 at Gitano Beach Club, marking the start of a month-long activation that brings the future of tech to the shores of Dubai.
Available to the public from May 12 at Ray-Ban stores and partner opticians across the UAE, the glasses combine style with intelligent features, allowing users to capture immersive videos, listen to music discreetly, access Meta AI, and even livestream hands-free.
Stylish Functionality with Powerful Features
The new Ray-Ban Meta collection includes signature models like Wayfarer, Wayfarer Large, and the universally fitting Ray-Ban Skyler, now available in Shiny Chalky Grey. Each pair is equipped with a 12MP ultrawide camera that captures portrait-oriented 1080p videos and high-resolution images, offering content creators a hands-free, authentic POV.
The open-ear speakers have been re-engineered to deliver enhanced bass and noise suppression, maintaining a clear audio experience while ensuring users remain aware of their surroundings. With five built-in microphones, the glasses support smooth transitions between music and calls, making them ideal for multitasking on the go.
Meta’s built-in livestreaming function allows wearers to share their experience in real time on Instagram Live or Facebook Live, switching effortlessly between the glasses and phone cameras for up to 30 minutes—introducing a new level of realism to social content creation.
AI-Powered Experiences and Upcoming Features
One of the standout features of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses is the integration of Meta AI, which responds to the voice command “Hey Meta.” This allows users to ask questions, get local recommendations, translate signs, receive cooking suggestions, and more—all hands-free and in real time. Whether learning about a nearby landmark or curating a playlist, the AI assistant brings contextual intelligence to daily life.
Coming later this spring, live translation will be available in the UAE. Once downloaded, language packs will allow offline translation across Spanish, French, Italian, and English, ideal for travel or multilingual family settings—even when the device is in airplane mode.
The glasses will also receive continuous software updates, ensuring they grow smarter and more useful over time.
Comfort Meets Customisation
In addition to advanced tech, the Ray-Ban Meta collection delivers on style and optical comfort. The glasses come in a wide array of colours and lenses—including clear, sun, prescription, polarized, and Transitions®—designed using the latest optical innovations to offer clarity, protection, and comfort without compromising on design.
All models include a compact charging case for portability and extended use, and the upgraded Meta View app (available on iOS and Android) enables users to import, edit, and add effects to their content. Users can also manage multiple Ray-Ban Meta devices through the app with ease.
The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses start at a suggested retail price of AED 1,330, offering consumers a balanced mix of tech, fashion, and utility in a single wearable device.
