Art collective MSCHF has teamed up with Mercedes-AMG for a boundary-pushing exhibition at NYCxDesign 2025, unveiling a sculptural furniture collection that reinterprets AMG performance parts into irreverent design pieces. Titled “MSCHF x AMG: Not for Automotive Use,” the show runs from May 14 to 17 at MSCHF’s Brooklyn studio, marking the first time the space has been open to the public.

From Engineered Speed to Radical Form

Inspired by the 1960s Italian Radical Design movement, the furniture repurposes authentic AMG car components into sculptural pieces like ergonomic chairs, standing lights, and trash bins. Each object is a one-off exploration of industrial materiality and humor, reminiscent of Achille Castiglioni’s experimental style. Every item is made to order, blending the meticulous engineering of AMG with MSCHF’s penchant for artistic disruption.

According to the creators, the collection is not about utility but commentary — a showcase of performance objects transformed into artful provocations.

Apparel, Fragrance, and Performance-Inspired Accessories

The collaboration extends beyond furniture. A limited-edition apparel and accessory capsule includes pieces adorned with detailed engine scans from AMG vehicles, alongside a custom-designed fragrance tree shaped like an apple tree — an ironic reference to AMG’s hometown of Affalterbach, Germany (“Affalter” means apple tree in old German).

The collection is available only during the exhibition, with opening hours set from 12 to 5 p.m., May 15–17. An exclusive opening party was held on May 14.
