Danish design house GUBI has reintroduced one of Pierre Paulin’s most celebrated pieces—the futuristic F300 chair—bringing a 1960s design icon into the modern era. Originally created in the late ‘60s, the F300 has long been a collector’s gem, previously available only through vintage dealers. However, GUBI’s new edition ensures the chair is not only accessible but also environmentally conscious.

Sustainability Meets Classic Form

Working in close collaboration with Benjamin Paulin, the designer’s son, GUBI has maintained the distinctive silhouette that made the F300 a standout. Although the sculptural curves and sleek, organic form remain unchanged, the chair’s core material has been upgraded. While the original shell was made from fiberglass and polyurethane, the new model features an engineered polymer composed of recycled industrial plastic waste. This thoughtful update aligns the reissue with contemporary standards for sustainability in design.

Additionally, the reimagined chair offers expanded colour options. The shell now comes in alabaster white and a subtle pastel green, while the upholstery is available in a bold yellow, deep red, and other vibrant tones. These modern hues offer new ways to integrate the F300 into contemporary interiors without compromising its retro-futurist essence.

A Legacy of Comfort and Character

Benjamin Paulin explained, “The F300 perfectly embodies my father’s philosophy—sculptural, elegant, and deeply comfortable. It’s not just a photogenic piece; it’s designed from a true understanding of how people sit.” According to him, the chair’s distinctive form naturally encourages relaxation, which reinforces its continued relevance in today’s homes and lounges.

In tandem with the F300’s return, GUBI is also reviving the T877 side table. Crafted from the same recycled polymer as the F300 shell, the table is now available in three fresh colours: Violet Ice, Honey Gold, and Molé. These additions create a coherent design story between the two reissued pieces.

Both the F300 chair and T877 table will be available in stores from mid-May. Retail prices are set at £1,799 GBP ($2,299 USD) for the F300 and £299 GBP ($399 USD) for the T877, offering design enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of design history reimagined for the future.
