The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has officially launched a strategic innovation lab at Al Safa Art and Design Library. This marks the first phase of its 2026–2033 strategy development, aiming to position innovation and collaboration at the heart of its long-term vision. The initiative underscores Dubai Culture’s commitment to supporting the emirate’s cultural and creative industries (CCIs) as a driver of sustainable growth.

The lab, themed “From Vision to Impact,” gathered representatives from across government, academia, the private sector, and Dubai’s creative community. The collaborative setting ensured that ideas reflect both internal insight and external expertise. The session introduced a future-focused lens, encouraging participants to envision Dubai’s cultural landscape in 2071. This long-term view helps ensure that today’s strategies align with the emirate’s evolving role as a global cultural hub.

Fostering Innovation and Inclusivity

Notably, the innovation lab is only the beginning of a broader engagement programme. Over the coming months, Dubai Culture will host a series of interventions to refine the new strategy. These sessions will involve all Authority employees, key stakeholders, and members of the wider community. This approach promotes inclusivity, shared ownership, and alignment with Dubai’s broader development goals.

Throughout the session, participants applied foresight and innovation tools to identify sector challenges and explore new opportunities. They focused on ways to translate ambitions into practical initiatives. In doing so, they helped shape a roadmap that supports Dubai’s knowledge economy and strengthens its global cultural competitiveness.

Additionally, the leadership team analysed regional and international trends in the creative industries. This analysis guided discussions around aligning Dubai’s cultural vision with global best practices. As a result, new ideas emerged that will form the foundation of the Authority’s 2026–2033 strategy.

Data-Driven Planning for Cultural Growth

Dubai Culture views innovation as a critical enabler of future growth. Therefore, outputs from the lab will directly influence the structure and priorities of the forthcoming strategy. Each initiative identified will be data-driven, measurable, and relevant to both emerging challenges and future opportunities.

By bringing together diverse perspectives and focusing on long-term impact, Dubai Culture is setting the stage for a more dynamic and resilient cultural sector. The new strategy aims not only to elevate Dubai’s global cultural profile but also to ensure that creativity continues to fuel the emirate’s economic and social development.
