Swedish fashion house Acne Studios is set to unveil its first permanent gallery space, Acne Paper Palais Royal, in Paris on June 26. Located within the arcades of the iconic Palais Royal, the gallery extends the brand’s ongoing commitment to art, design, and cultural discourse.
Drawing inspiration from the brand’s semi-annual publication Acne Paper, the new space will operate as an interdisciplinary platform. It aims to spotlight emerging and established voices across art, fashion, and photography. Through rotating exhibitions, talks, and book launches, the venue reinforces Acne Studios’ dedication to creative exploration beyond the runway.
Paul Kooiker’s “2025” Exhibition to Inaugurate the Gallery
The gallery will open with 2025, a solo exhibition by renowned Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker. Known for his surreal and conceptual imagery, Kooiker presents 42 portraits of students from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. The collection, evoking the nostalgic formality of school portraiture, reflects themes of personal growth and the uncertainty often associated with life milestones.
This debut exhibition continues Acne Studios’ tradition of collaborating with visionary artists. It also builds on its recent projects, including a capsule collection and exhibition with artist Jonathan Lyndon Chase, and the 2021 revival of Acne Paper. These milestones have helped shape the brand’s evolution into a cross-disciplinary cultural force.
A Creative Return to the Brand’s Origins
More than just a gallery, Acne Paper Palais Royal symbolizes a full-circle moment for the brand. It honours the legacy of ACNE, the original creative collective founded in 1996, which focused on design, fashion, and film. Through this gallery, Acne Studios reaffirms its founding belief that fashion is only one part of a broader artistic language.
By launching this space during the lead-up to Paris Fashion Week, Acne Studios continues to blur the boundaries between fashion and art. The gallery is poised to become a cultural landmark—rooted in heritage yet forward-looking in its vision.
