Breguet has unveiled the Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255, a limited-edition masterpiece commemorating the brand’s 250th anniversary. Limited to just 50 pieces, this extraordinary timepiece honours a pivotal moment in horological history: the June 26, 1801 patent granted to Abraham-Louis Breguet for the invention of the tourbillon.
A Starry Dial Crafted in Aventurine Enamel
For the first time ever, Breguet has used aventurine enamel to create the dial. This material, rich in deep blue tones and speckled with shimmering copper particles, mirrors the night sky with poetic elegance. Crafting the dial requires multiple high-temperature firings, making each one unique due to the artisanal nature of aventurine. As a result, no two pieces in this edition are exactly the same.
Engineered to Appear Weightless
Powering the watch is the hand-wound Calibre 187M1, housed in a 38mm 18K gold case. The calibre centres on a flying tourbillon, which rises 2.2 mm above the main plate and 0.9 mm above the dial, giving it the illusion of floating. Breguet achieves this effect by concealing the tourbillon bezel beneath the enamel surface, allowing the movement to create an impression of gravity-defying balance and symmetry.
A Fusion of Innovation and Tradition
Additional design elements reinforce the watch’s identity. These include a guilloché caseback inspired by Quai de l’Horloge and Breguet’s proprietary gold alloy. Together, these features form a seamless blend of classical technique and modern craftsmanship. Notably, this timepiece captures the Maison’s dedication to artistry, engineering, and celestial inspiration.
